This year marks the 19th Annual Tribute to Women, a highly revered event honoring women in our Pueblo community. We invite you to take part in this exciting opportunity and experience firsthand the pride we take in supporting our cause. YWCA of Pueblo is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
In Pueblo, the domestic violence rate is higher than the national average with one in every three women experiencing domestic violence in her lifetime. In order to meet our mission and continue to provide services to our community, we rely on your generosity.
Your sponsorship will directly support operational and program costs which benefit the entire city of Pueblo and Pueblo County. Without the assistance of community-minded individuals, we would not be able to meet the needs of those who need it most. Each level of sponsorship will make a tremendous impact on the following programs:
- Domestic Violence Services – including 24/7 secure and confidential shelter services
- Teresa’s Place – court ordered supervised visitations and safe exchange services to families
- Counselling Services – adult and child/adolescent counselling
- Healthy Relationships – a youth violence prevention initiative that delivers curriculum throughout Pueblo County middle and high schools
In addition, please take this time to look into your own organization to nominate a woman who is deserving of such recognition. More information and related forms can be found by visiting our website at www.ywcapueblo.com. We will honor women in our community for their amazing accomplishments. The YWCA Tribute to Women event will be on Friday, October 16th, 2020, at 5:00pm at the Pueblo Riverwalk. This year instead of having a guest speaker and because of COVID-19 we are launching the YWCA 1st Annual Luminary Light Up. In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, which is in October every year, people will be able to purchase a luminary for $20 in memory of, or in recognition of someone in their lives. Because of COVID restrictions for outdoor events, the YWCA’s Board of Directors and staff will be lighting and launching into the water all of the luminaries this year. There will be a name reading as the luminaries are being launched. The luminaries could be purchased at the YWCA administration building located at 801 N. Santa Fe Avenue, Pueblo, CO; or online at www.ywcapueblo.com.
